About
The establishment of a Mauritanian metal company comes in fulfillment of the obligations of His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazwany to frame traditional and semi-industrial mines.
It is a public institution of an industrial and commercial nature, with moral personality and financial independence, based in Nouakchott, and subject to the technical guardianship of the Minister in charge of minerals.
The decision to establish the company was issued by the Council of Ministers held on March 05, 2020, and Prime Minister Ismail Ould Baddah Ould Cheikh Sidia signed on May 28, 2020 Decree No. 065-2020 defining the rules for the organization of the company and its functioning.
Objectives:
Technical supervision and assistance for traditional and semi-industrial mineral exploiters
Ensuring the implementation of safety procedures related to mineral exploitation activities
Work and contribute to environmental protection
Framing and / or supervising the marketing of gold resulting from traditional and semi-industrial exploitation
mission:
Grant the necessary licenses to practice the activity associated with traditional mines
Granting the necessary licenses for the activity related to semi-industrial mines
Technical framing of activities of traditional exploitation of gold and other metallic elements as well as small mineral exploitation
Eliminating the use of mercury and chemicals in treating the ore minerals in cooperation with the relevant departments of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development
Control the use of chemicals under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, as well as standards for the disposal of liquids
Organizing and following up / monitoring marketing tracks
Organizing traditional and semi-industrial metal activity by setting an appropriate interface for the target population
Spreading awareness of good practices and training for the benefit of traditional and semi-industrial exploiters
Establishing infrastructure and following up its implementation when it is mandated to accomplish it
Finding sources of financing for the benefit of traditional mineral exploiters
Reclaiming and rehabilitating contaminated sites and following up their implementation if entrusted to others
Using new technology, especially with regard to the digitization of its operations and services.
